Hope: Day 1

Romans 5:1-5

Hope is more than an idea for anyone who knows Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Paul tells us some very important things about our hope as God’s children. He begins by talking about the peace we have with God. This peace comes not from something we have done but from what Jesus did for us. Our part is to trust that Jesus’ death on the cross paid the price for our sin. Our hope comes from this same fact. It is Jesus’ death for us that gives us a reason for not only hope but also joy in that hope. We do not need to do anything to be right in God’s eyes. We simply need to trust in what Jesus has already done!

Paul then goes on to tell us that this hope is even there when we go through hard times and we can celebrate them. Jesus showed us He loved us by what He did for us. We can know that the hard times we go through are part of God’s plan for us. They make us tougher, better people who have hope. Each day the Holy Spirit helps us. We see God’s love which helps us remember the hope we have as children of God. No matter what happens, Jesus’ love is real in our lives-not only now, but forever.

Prayer Focus: Thank God for what Jesus did for us. Thank Him for being with us even in the hard times and giving us hope no matter what happens.
