Love: Day 6
If you really love someone, what would you be willing to do to get in contact with them? A once popular song says, “I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more…” David is so in love with God that he realizes what we all must seek to know-experiencing God’s love and presence is better than life itself. David starts this Psalm with a firm truth, that God is His God. He and God had a relationship with one another. This inspires the rest of David’s words, actions, and desires. David seeks God because He has a relationship with Him and wants it to grow. David’s soul and body long for God because He knows what it is to be in His presence. Finally, David says that being in a relationship with God and knowing His love led him to see that God’s love is better than life. This reality is so established in David’s heart and mind that He promises to glorify God with His lips, praise him as long as he lives, and lift up his hands in God’s name. What about you? Do you know God’s love to be better than life? Do you, because of your relationship with Him, desperately seek to know and experience more of His presence and power and love each day? Do you have lips that glorify the Lord, praising Him?
Prayer focus: Ask God to give you a longing for more of His presence and love in your life. Thank God that His love is better than life.
